Are you and your family thinking of or wanting to plan a tropical vacation and at the same time, trying to select the best Caribbean Island?
Take it from me, that can be a very difficult decision to make considering the number of beautiful Islands there are to choose from in the Caribbean.
How many you ask?
Well, in reality there are more than 7000 islands scattered over more than 2000 miles of what is referred to as the ‘West Indies’.

This is one of my all – time favorites …
The Dominican Republic is a tourist favorite and has been for many years, for obvious reasons. It is ranked as one of the ‘top 10 Caribbean Islands‘ to visit by many travel magazines, experts and people’s choice for suggested Caribbean travel destinations.
Also known as the ‘West Indies‘, the overall area is now more normally spoken to as the ‘Caribbean’, a name that became quite popular after the Second World War. The word “Caribbean” is named after ‘The Caribs’, who were the dominant group of people in the 1500’s in this region.
Where are the Caribbean Islands you ask?
Well, in a nutshell, the Islands are located amongst the deep blue Caribbean Sea. They are a semi – circular gathering of Islands geographically situated southeast of the Gulf of Mexico, north of South America and to the east of Central America and Mexico.
More simply put, the majority of the Caribbean Islands are located southeast of the tip of Florida in the United States, making access to these Islands convenient and easy from most anywhere. This is why for Americans, Canadians and Europeans the Caribbean is a top choice for tropical beach family holidays.
Best Caribbean Island for Family – The Choice is Yours
For our family, living on a strict budget like most, it really came down to what Island offered the best deals in that particular year we were traveling. Of course, taking advantage of those terrific all inclusive family vacations was a priority in selecting our tropical beach holidays. So, as a result, we have had the pleasure of visiting a few of the top 10 Caribbean Islands over the past years and staying at some wonderful all-inclusive resorts at the same time.

Of course, one of the best ways of seeing a number of Caribbean Islands is on ‘Cruise Vacation’. Taking a family cruise is perhaps the best and cheapest way to see a number of the islands on holiday.
It gives you a taste of each island, its people, culture and much more.
There are some amazing all inclusive cruise deals to the Caribbean to select from that just can’t be beat! Our family have enjoyed two such cruises in past years and the experience is unforgettable!

“Sosua Beach Dominican Republic”
Dominican Republic … without a doubt and my favorite Caribbean destination thus far is the Dominican. This is the second largest island and located just to the south of Cuba.
A beautiful large island with your choice of beach side resorts on the ‘emerald green’ waters of the Atlantic or the ‘deep blue’ colors of the Caribbean Sea.
World class resorts, beautiful beaches with some of the best snorkeling in the Caribbean, amazing friendly people, excellent food, all making for a fantastic affordable family holiday.

Cuba … what can one say about Cuba? The largest and perhaps most well – known of all the islands in the Caribbean, Cuba is full of history, mystery and beauty.

Antiqua … definitely at the top of the best Caribbean island to visit is Antiqua and is listed as one of the ‘premier’ islands to visit in all of the Caribbean.
This island is ‘teeming with history‘, full of culture, British heritage and beauty. It has more beaches and coves for one to explore than days in the year.
There are countless activities to keep the most restless busy and pristine waters and beaches for those in search of solitude.

This is the largest of the US Virgins and like all the others, unique in its own special way. Filled with a host of family activities to enjoy, you choose to stay busy or relax on their perfect white sandy beaches.

For us, it really got down to taking advantage of those great all inclusive cruise deals and land packages that surfaced for that particular year for the type of family holiday destination we had in mind.

Choose the best Caribbean island that’s just right for you and your family!
I am biased toward the Dominican Republic because i lived there for 2 years. I’ve only been to a few other islands, but none as wonderful as the DR. I would have to have a TOP 10 Want-to-visit list which would definitely include USVI, BVI, St. Lucia and Dominca.

The DR definitely is a favorite! Every island is unique in its own way!
For me Guadeloupe is the best, then St. Bartelemy, Bequia, Tobago and Anguila!
